THREE BROTHERS ONE GAME

Our journey building the best board game we never had.

The Spark

Fawnalore began as a passion project at the start of the pandemic.

Our designer, Chad, was stuck as the permanent Game Master in every RPG campaign and thought:

“Why isn’t there a game that brings the hype of TTRPGs without the endless prep or a GM?”

GMs, we feel your pain. Hours of planning, only to watch players ignore everything you prepared. A true labor of love.

Original Fawnalore V1 prototype played on a doormat during early development at Chad’s bachelor party.

It all started with a doormat. Yes, really. The first prototype came together after a year of chaotic tinkering.
The first-ever playtest? Chad’s bachelor party.

  • Cards printed at an office supply store.

  • The “board” was a doormat.

  • Players were falling asleep at the table (Matt, you’ll never live that down).

And yet—by the end of the night, something magical happened. People were arguing. Not about the rules, but about which characters were overpowered.

That’s when it clicked: even with a doormat board and broken mechanics, players were emotionally invested. We were onto something.

The Doormat

Our Humble Beginnings…

From Doormat to Dream

Realizing the size of the beast, Chad called in the only people he could trust: his brothers.

We’d always talked about creating something together, and our mix of engineering, marketing, and storytelling made for the perfect chaos. Out of that madness, Fawnalore took shape.

Over time we layered in mechanics, lore, and systems until it grew beyond a game into a universe—what we now call the next evolution in board gaming.

The Past

Original Fawnalore V1 prototype played on a doormat during early development at Chad’s bachelor party.

What began as a bachelor-party experiment — a doormat board, self-printed cards, and half-asleep players — proved the idea had teeth. Even in its most broken state, Fawnalore sparked arguments, laughter, and investment. That’s when we knew we had something worth chasing.

The Present

Prototype of Fawnalore’s modular tile tray system used for playtesting the board game system.

Today, Fawnalore is a living prototype. We’ve built a guided campaign book, modular tile trays, six unique heroes with prebuilt decks, and fast, transparent combat. Every playtest refines the systems, sharpens the lore, and gets us closer to the game we’ve always wanted on our table.

The Future

Our vision is bigger than a single box. Fawnalore will grow into a universe of episodic campaigns, PvP modes, seasonal arcs, and community-driven variants. We want to bridge the best of board games and video games — accessible, cinematic, and endlessly replayable.

What We’re Building

Learn-As-You-Play Campaign

The campaign book doubles as your rulebook. Mission 0 teaches the core rules inside the story itself, so you’re playing in minutes—not flipping through 40 pages of instructions. Every episode reveals the world while teaching only the mechanics you need.

Fast, Transparent Combat

No defense stat. Damage always goes through, and mitigation comes from armor, items, and abilities. With clear three-phase turns and monster AI handled by a player “Controller,” combat stays quick and engaging without rules bottlenecks.

The Events Deck

Land on an Event tile and it’s time for the group chant: “EVENTS DECK! EVENTS DECK!” These cards keep the story fresh with twists, rewards, and table-wide moments that become instant memories.

Six Ready Heroes

Choose from Shima, Pona, Amka, Erandi, Prati, or Agowa. Each comes with a prebuilt deck designed for their archetype—assassin, healer, tank, mage, tinkerer, and scout. As you progress, you unlock new cards and customize your hero to match your playstyle.

Tactical Exploration

Modular terrain tiles—Grass, Sand, Stone, Water, Ice, Forest, Campaign—shape movement, resources, and positioning. Exploration feels alive as tiles flip, reveal resources, or spawn monsters. Every board setup changes how your adventure unfolds.

Built For Every Mode

Fawnalore is a system, not just a single mode. Team up to tackle the campaign, face off in PvP, or wander solo through the episodes. The modular design means it adapts to any group and invites house-rules, mods, and community creations.

Why We Do This

We believe the best games don’t sit on a shelf — they transform a night with friends into a memory. Fawnalore is our way of weaving story and strategy into something anyone can open, learn, and fall into together. We build because we want every table to feel like an adventure worth remembering.
