New to Fawnalore? Complete the tutorial HERE before starting this episode. It takes about 30 minutes and covers everything you need to know.

Continuing from the tutorial? Your map is already built and your characters are set up. Follow below.

The Map:

This episode uses two connected trays. If you are continuing from the tutorial, your first tray is already built. Add the second tray (1.1 Tray) now.

Connect Tray 2 to Tray 1 as shown in the diagram. Shuffle all Tray 2 tiles face-down before placing them randomly. Do not look at the backs.

Starting fresh? Build both trays using the diagrams below. Place the Campfire tile and Campaign Tile 1.1 face-up in the positions shown. Shuffle all other tiles face-down and place them randomly.

  • Campaign Tile 1.1

Special Rules:

  1. Ambush - Before play begins, each player draws 1 card from the Monster Deck. Ignore the Spawn direction on the card. Place your monster anywhere on the map that is not a player starting tile. Assign it to the Circle zone on your monster mat, write its HP, and place your Circle standee on the map.

  2. Starting positions

All players begin in one of the pink-outlined tiles shown on the map. Each player occupies a separate tile.

  3. Starting Ether

Before play begins, each player rolls their Ether Die once and gains that much Ether. Write it on your character card. Start the episode with something in your pocket.

Setup Checklist:

Step 1 — Build the map Build Tray 1 using the diagram above (skip if continuing from tutorial). Place Campfire tile face-up. Shuffle all other tiles face-down and place randomly.

Step 2 — Add Tray 2 Connect Tray 2 to Tray 1 as shown. Shuffle all Tray 2 tiles face-down and place randomly. Do not look at the backs. Locate Campaign Tile 1.1 — it is face-up on this tray and is your first objective.

Step 3 — Prepare the shared decks Place the Monster Deck and Event Deck face-down in the center of the table. Confirm Stumpy has been removed from the Monster Deck. Shuffle both decks.

Step 4 — The ambush Each player draws 1 card from the Monster Deck. Slot it into Monster 1 on your monster mat. Write its HP in the Circle zone. Place your Circle standee anywhere on the map that is not a starting tile. Spread monsters out — avoid clustering them near the Campfire.

Step 5 — Roll for Starting Ether Each player rolls their Ether Die. Gain that much Ether and write it on your character card.

Step 6 — Place your miniature(skip if continuing from tutorial) Each player places their miniature on a pink-outlined starting tile near the Campfire. Each player occupies a separate tile.

Step 7 — Roll for turn order Everyone rolls 1d20. Highest goes first. Ties re-roll. Turn order proceeds clockwise.

Step 8 — Begin Monsters are in play. The map is built. Episode 1 has started.

Reach Campaign Tile 1.1. Good luck.

Tips:

  • Campaign Tile 1.1 is just the next checkpoint; the episode does not end there!

  • You don't have to fight everything. Your goal is to reach Campaign Tile 1.1 — not clear the board. Move toward the objective. Fight what's in your way.

  • Spread out early. Starting with up to 6 characters and 6 monsters on one tray is a crowded board. Players who push toward the Campaign Tile early create space for everyone behind them.

  • Event and Monster tiles are new this episode. When you hit an Event tile, draw from the Event Deck, read it aloud, resolve it, discard it. When you hit a Monster tile, draw from the Monster Deck, follow the Spawn direction on that card, assign your next available stand, track HP on your mat.

  • The board is different every time. You have no idea what's under those tiles. That's the point. Explore carefully — or boldly. Either way, the Kairos surprises everyone.

Episode 1 has started. Reach Campaign Tile 1.1. Good Luck…
